Open books are passed slowly in front of the camera showing cloud images gleened from the Amsterdam central library. moving right to left, the books ease across the frame each one nudged gently along by the next. Over the course of an hour the images naturally progress, pictures of mostly blue sky give way to heavy cloud cover, storm, cloud break and a return to blue skies. The clouds frozen photographically in books are given an ironic reanimation through the illusionary framework of video. The rapid frame rate is used to restore the langorous movement of clouds to the images of clouds. By documenting the document, adding artifice to the artifact, cumulus offers a more removed but more related experience on the subject of cloud drift.
